Claudia del Rivero Wedding Photographer Interview

BIO: My name is Claudia Del Rivero, I live in Cancun, Mexico. I am originally from the state of Tabasco however when I turned 3 years old my parents brought me to Cancun, since then I've been living here, I studied Communications after college I worked a few years in advertising agencies until I had my first son, that's when I quit my office job and started freelancing, almost 4 years later I had my second daughter and since that moment is when I found photography more than a hobby.

How did you start shooting destination weddings?

I started when a friend that liked my work and who knew that I started in photography, wanted to give the photos to a friend of hers who was getting married, originally I going for two hours and ended up staying 4.

What advice would you give to brides looking for destination wedding vendors?

That you take the time to get to know and your photographer, if you feel comfortable with him and you feel identified then is the right one and you will be sure this person has a moral commitment with you therefore it´s results will be more than you expected.

Tell us on which venues or cities do you really love to work?

I love Tulum and Isla Mujeres.

What part or moment of the wedding day do you like the most?

I love the Getting ready part, because there are many emotions involved and I enjoy the reception where everyone is relaxed and enjoying the party.

How do you see the destination wedding photography industry?

I feel that with the daily growth of photographers in the world it seems that the industry is saturated and thus many are afraid of this, But I consider this to be used rather than a threat to be used as an opportunity to grow, challenge you to be better or find things to make you to stand out among the rest.

That you take the time to get to know and your photographer, if you feel comfortable with him and you feel identified then is the right one.

Tell us about yor photography style.

My style is documentary and lifestyle especially when I have to work with couples because which bride does not like to look good on portrait photos right? that's when I do a mixture of bringing out their essence so I can have more natural expressions without neglecting the suggested poses or previously have given the tips to make the best with their bodies.

New projects, your hobbies, your family, anything but work.

I love to travel, it is something I enjoy too much and sometimes I feel that I don't travel as much as I wanted, we travel a lot as a family, my children since they were very young are used to make long road trips (when traveling within the country) or can have the patience to wait time between flights and other. The music and film are an important part of my life, that´s why I love photography, I live life thinking it's a movie, for all I have the perfect song to be playing at a certain time. My children are also a great inspiration especially the girl, she's very eloquent and I've always said, my best model.

Why did you decide to start in photography?

I have always liked photograph due to my dad and my uncle were very much into it as a hobby, I decided to be a photographer the day I've realized the importance of The Persistence of Memory, today is something of me I value a lot and I'm afraid of losing it, however, not many people have a good memory to the extent that memory of things and details of when they were very young, also photography makes you eternal, makes you reach people who have not known or believed get to know beyond that as a photographer I love that it is a way to make an impact on others.

What's your photography strength?

I think my strength is in documentary wedding photography and beyond that for couples and families in a lifestyle photography.

Your future ten years from now.

Continuing working I really enjoy it too much, besides that I hope traveling both for business or pleasure, starting searching for the college where my oldest son would want to study and most of all enjoying life 300%.
